CIRCA 1850-1870. This exquisite serpent necklace was popularised in the Victorian era, after Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a serpent shaped ring. This sparked a trend, making this design a defining piece of the Victorian era. 

 
Symbolising eternal love, commitment, wisdom & the cynical nature of life.

This piece is adorned with old & rose cut diamonds, on a ground of blue guilloche enamel with eyes set with cabochon rubies, and a graduated scaled body leading to an enamelled clasp tail.
